Why We Exist
- The odds are stacked against the average South African High School Girl and School Leaver.
- Systematic poverty, a legacy of being underprivileged, lack of role models, inferior quality education, the high prevalence of school dropouts, teenage pregnancy, HIV Aids, drugs and gang influence, all hinder and interrupt their chance of a decent education.
- Without intervention or support, navigating their high school and young adult years is almost guaranteed to be a treacherous and often unsuccessful journey.
- Many young women in the foster care system in South Africa would like to study further and dream of creating a better life for themselves.
- Without any real support, these girls often end up jobless, pregnant, abused, on drugs and so without intending to, perpetuate the cycle of abuse and neglect and poverty they have come from.
- Care, support and encouragement and assistance, would make the hugest difference for these young women and can facilitate the difference for them of no longer living a life of poverty and hardship, but rather transforming it into a life full of opportunity and potential and success.
- This is what Her Hope Foundation wants to offer to as many young and vulnerable women in South Africa as we can reach and support and nurture and help to become the best version of themselves and reach their full potential.
